Pan Pizza Dough

Makes 3 Pan pizza's.

Pizza night for cheap! With your own toppings, instead of these Domino's 2-topping pizza's rubbish. Upside the dough freezes well, so you can throw it in the freezer, let it defrost in the freezer knead it a little a hey presto you're ready to top.

The picture below uses this dough recipe, but is strudel log inspired. Spread dough thinly, top with tomato paste and cheese. Add topping sauce to one side, top with cheese and then roll together.

Ingredients

1-2/3 cups warm water
2-1/2 tsp active dry yeast
2 tsp salt
1/4 cup olive oil
4 cups all-purpose flour

Method

  1. In large bowl add water, yeast, and salt. Stir until dissolved.
  2. Stir in olive oil.
  3. Mix in flour.
  4. Turn dough out on floured board and knead for about 5 minutes.
  5. Grease inside of medium bowl. Place dough in bowl and flip dough over so that the dough top is also greased. Cover and let rise in warm place until double in size.
  6. Punch down dough and turn out onto lightly floured board. Knead out bubbles. The dough is now ready to be made into pizza.
  7. Oil up your cake/pie tray with vegetable oil. And press down 1/3 of the dough into the pan so that it comes up the sides a little. Add toppings.
  8. Bake the pizza at 450*F (230*C) until done.
